This time next week, I will be in the middle of a very long plane ride to New Zealand. Don’t worry though, I’m working on blog posts to keep things going through 2020, with the exception of Christmas Day. There’s so much to do in the meantime. But why not procrastinate packing with this post? Here are my favorite things this week.
Barboursville Reserve Viognier 2017 // I’ve said before that Barboursville puts just as much care into their $20 bottles as they do their $65 bottles. Here’s proof! Their 2017 Viognier not only retails for $20, it’s also on Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Wines in the World list. If you’re more of a red drinker during this time of year, don’t turn your nose up at this. It’s a full-bodied white and aged in stainless steel, so it won’t hit you over the head with oakiness like some other Viogniers. Also, my dream job would be to run Barboursville’s social media, so here we are.
6 Bears & a Goat Brewing Company // Need a break from all that wine? I gotcha covered–how about a local beer? I love 6 Bears & a Goat. Located in Fredericksburg, it’s veteran owned and well worth a visit. The food is great. The beer is great. There’s brunch! There’s even an ugly sweater party this weekend. If you want to switch up your winery trips to something a bit more grain-based, I can’t recommend them enough.
In the Heights Trailer // I am so so so here for this. Lin Manuel Miranda is a genius and I never got to see his original production live. Luckily, based on the trailer, it looks like this movie will do it justice. Fair warning: The song will get stuck in your head.
