Walsh Family Wine

At first glance, $20 for a wine tasting seems pretty steep. So before that scares you away, let me just tell you how Walsh Family Wine is absolutely worth it. In fact, from what they provide with their tasting, I would even tell you that it’s an excellent value. Our tasting room associate, Peter, is sadly off now working a New Zealand harvest, but from our experience, the staff are incredible about speaking to the (delicious) wines. Additionally, you get some delicious local cheeses to compliment your tasting.

Septenary, The Winery at Seven Oaks Farm

Septenary isn’t quite like the other vineyards in the Crozet area. Producing only about 3,000 cases of wine each year, it’s a smaller operation that really manages to emphasize family business. As we pulled into the vineyard, we were greeted by owner Todd Zimmerman, who was also kind enough to give us a mini tour of their brand-new barrel room. It was certainly one of the kindest winery welcomes that we received during our long weekend in Virginia’s wine country.
